Kapil Parmar, the world no. 1 para-judo player, lost in the semifinals of the Men’s J1 – 60 KG category at the Paris Paralympics. Kapil was defeated by Iran’s S. Banitaba Khorram Abadi with a score of 0-10. Earlier, he had won against Venezuela’s Marcos Dennis Blanco with a score of 10-0 in the quarterfinals.

In another event, Kokila lost her preliminary round in the J2 – 48 KG category against Ukraine’s Yuliia Ivanytska with a score of 0-10.

Harvinder made history by winning a gold medal in individual recurve para-archery, becoming the first Indian to win a medal in this sport at both the Olympics and Paralympics. He defeated Poland’s Lukasz Ciszek 6-0 in the final. Harvinder had also won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Paralympics 2020.

India’s second medal in archery at the Paris Paralympics was won by the pair of Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi, who clinched bronze in the mixed team compound event.

In the Women’s Individual Recurve Open, Pooja lost in the quarterfinals to China’s Wu Chunyan with a score of 4-6.

Para-athlete Sachin Khilari won a silver medal in the men’s shot put F46 final with a throw of 16.32 meters, which is the area best (AB). He missed the gold by just 0.6 meters.

The Indian contingent has won a total of 24 medals so far, including five golds, nine silvers, and ten bronzes, and is ranked 15th in the medal tally. With more days left in the Paralympics, India has a chance to win more medals.
