Kapil Dev Becomes President of Professional Golf Tour of India
New Delhi [India], June 29: Kapil Dev, the former India cricket captain who led the team to a World Cup victory, has taken on a new role as the President of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). This marks a significant milestone for the PGTI, the governing body for men’s professional golf in India.
Kapil Dev’s New Role
Speaking about his new position, Kapil Dev expressed his happiness and acknowledged the increased responsibility. He emphasized the importance of providing more matches for players and ensuring their well-being. He said, “I am very happy, lots of more responsibility on my shoulders. Now I have to make sure all the players know we can look after them and give them more golf, so it’s more responsibility now.”
Call to the Corporate World
Kapil Dev also urged the corporate sector to organize their tournaments with PGTI. He highlighted the prevalence of corporate golf events in winter and suggested that similar efforts should be made for top PGTI tournaments. He added, “We would ask more corporate world to come out and try to organise their own tournaments with PGTI.”

Uttam Singh Mundy, the CEO of PGTI, expressed his honor in having Kapil Dev as the president. Kapil Dev’s Contribution to Golf
Kapil Dev has been involved with PGTI for the last three years as the vice president and a member of the Governing Body. He has played a crucial role in shaping and developing Indian professional golf alongside the core team of PGTI.
