Kanimozhi Criticizes Law and Order in India and Tamil Nadu

DMK MP Kanimozhi has raised concerns about the law and order situation across India, stating that the recent Lok Sabha elections were marred by religious vandalism. Speaking to reporters in Thoothukudi, she criticized the campaign against Tamil Nadu in Odisha, describing it as violent and divisive.

Kanimozhi was responding to Union Minister L Murugan’s allegations that Tamil Nadu’s law and order situation is poor. She was attending the inauguration of a new Ultrasonogram (USG) machine service for pregnant mothers at the Primary Health Center in Pudukkottai, Tuticorin.

Kanimozhi also criticized the Prime Minister for addressing the law and order situation in Manipur only after the opposition walked out of the Rajya Sabha. She commented on AIADMK’s decision not to contest in the Vikravandi bypoll, suggesting it was due to fear of failure.

Earlier, Union Minister L Murugan had criticized the Tamil Nadu government for failing to maintain law and order, citing incidents like the deaths in Kallakurichi due to illicit liquor and the murder of a Congress district president.

In the recent Lok Sabha polls, the DMK won 22 seats in Tamil Nadu, followed by the Congress with nine, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi with two, Communist Party of India with two, Communist Party of India (Marxist) with two, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam with one, and Indian Union Muslim League with one seat.
