Kangana Ranaut Speaks Out After Bombay High Court Decision on ‘Emergency’ Film

Kangana Ranaut, a famous actress and BJP MP, shared her frustration after the Bombay High Court refused to order certification for her film ‘Emergency’.

Kangana’s Reaction

In a post on social media, Kangana said, “Today I have become everyone’s favourite target, this is the price you pay for awakening this sleeping nation.” She expressed her concern that people prefer peace and do not want to take sides, unlike soldiers who protect the nation.

Bombay High Court’s Decision

The Bombay High Court stated it could not direct the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to issue the certificate as it would contradict an MP High Court order. The CBFC has been asked to make a decision by September 18, with the next hearing scheduled for September 19.

Petition by Zee Entertainment Enterprises

Zee Entertainment Enterprises, the co-producer of ‘Emergency’, approached the Bombay High Court seeking the film’s release and a censor certificate. They claimed that the censor board had arbitrarily and illegally withheld the certificate. The MP High Court had previously directed the CBFC to consider representations made by Sikh groups who had filed a petition.
