Kamlesh Thakur, the wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is running as a Congress candidate in the Dehra by-election. She has been actively campaigning, holding nine street meetings and interacting with the public.

During her public meetings, Kamlesh emphasized the importance of democracy and urged residents to vote for her. She promised to address local issues such as road and water problems immediately after the elections. Kamlesh highlighted her local connections and assured that development would be uniform across the constituency.

Opposition and Support

Kamlesh will face BJP’s Hoshiyar Singh in the by-election. She criticized the former MLA for neglecting the area’s development and assured residents that she would bring their problems directly to the Chief Minister. Jwalamukhi MLA Sanjay Ratan and State Congress Treasurer Dr. Rajesh also spoke at her meetings, urging people to vote for Kamlesh.

The Election Department of Himachal Pradesh announced that 15 candidates, including Kamlesh Thakur, are contesting in the by-polls for Dehra, Hamirpur, and Nalagarh segments. The by-elections are scheduled for July 10.
