In Washington DC, US Vice President Kamala Harris announced that justice has been served following the elimination of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar by Israeli defense forces. Harris, who is running for the US presidential elections next month, stated that the world is better off and expressed hope that the families of the victims would feel relief.

Harris described Sinwar as the mastermind behind the October 7 attacks on Israel last year, which was the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. She highlighted the collaboration between US and Israeli forces in tracking Sinwar and other Hamas leaders, commending their efforts.

Harris emphasized Israel’s right to defend itself and stated that the threat Hamas poses must be eliminated. She also mentioned that Sinwar’s elimination presents an opportunity to end the war in Gaza, ensuring Israel’s security, the release of hostages, and the end of suffering in Gaza.

Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Israel Katz, confirmed Sinwar’s elimination and called it a major military and moral achievement. He stated that this development opens the door for the immediate release of hostages and a new reality in Gaza.

US President Joe Biden also praised the elimination of Sinwar, comparing it to the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden in 2011. He stated that it proves no terrorists can escape justice.

The conflict in Gaza reignited after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, leading to a counter-offensive by Israel against Hamas.
