Obama and Pelosi Yet to Endorse

Washington DC [US], July 22: Former President Barack Obama, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have not yet endorsed Kamala Harris for the Presidential nomination. However, many Democrat leaders showed their support for Harris on Sunday.

Former President Barack Obama said on Medium, “We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges.” His statement did not officially back Harris.

Obama’s endorsement is crucial as the Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago, his hometown, from August 19 to 22.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi praised President Joe Biden but did not endorse Harris. She said on X, “President Joe Biden is a patriotic American who has always put our country first. His legacy of vision, values, and leadership make him one of the most consequential Presidents in American history. With love and gratitude to President Biden for always believing in the promise of America and giving people the opportunity to reach their fulfillment.”

After Biden endorsed Harris, she received support from several Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton and former Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. The Clintons said, “We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever to support her.”

Congressman Ro Khanna endorsed Harris, saying, “I am proud to endorse Kamala Harris as our nominee. Her trailblazing candidacy as the first African American woman and first Asian American will be a jolt of energy in our party. Our party can now run on a message of hope and a vision for the future.”

Congressman Jim Clyburn from South Carolina’s 6th Congressional district echoed Biden’s endorsement, saying, “I echo the good judgment he demonstrated in selecting Vice President Harris to lead this nation alongside him, and I am proud today to follow his lead in support of her candidacy to succeed him as the Democratic Party’s 2024 nominee for President.”

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a potential Vice Presidential running mate for Harris, called for the party to unite behind her and focus on winning the election. He said on X, “The best path forward for the Democratic Party is to quickly unite behind Vice President Harris and refocus on winning the presidency. The contrast in this race could not be clearer and the road to victory in November runs right through Pennsylvania. I will do everything I can to help elect Kamala Harris as the 47th President of the United States.”

With the Democratic National Convention just a month away, Harris’s supporters aim to gather enough backing to secure her nomination. The task is challenging as Donald Trump already has a head start, and only a united front can hope to win.
