Kamala Harris Faces Pro-Palestine Protesters at Detroit Rally

US Vice President Kamala Harris was interrupted by pro-Palestine protesters during her speech at a rally in Detroit. The demonstrators shouted, ‘Kamala, Kamala you can’t hide, we won’t vote for genocide,’ but the crowd drowned them out with chants of ‘Kamala.’

Harris responded, ‘I’m here because we believe in democracy. Everyone’s voice matters, but I am speaking now. I am speaking now.’ When the protesters persisted, she added, ‘You know what, if you want Donald Trump to win then say that. Otherwise, I’m speaking.’

Harris recently met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and stated her commitment to Israel’s right to defend itself and a two-state solution. She emphasized, ‘Israel has a right to defend itself, but how it does so matters.’

Michigan, particularly the Detroit suburbs, has a high Arab American population, and some Democrats are concerned about the Biden administration’s handling of the Gaza conflict affecting votes. Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz also visited Wisconsin and Michigan, with union workers playing a key role in the rally.

Shawn Fain, head of the United Auto Workers (UAW), criticized former President Donald Trump and rallied support for Harris. Michigan, a crucial state for the US auto industry, shifted from supporting Trump in 2016 to Biden in 2020.
