Kamala Harris Condemns Flag Burning During Netanyahu’s US Congress Speech

US Vice President Kamala Harris condemned the actions of pro-Palestinian protestors who burned the American flag during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the US Congress. Harris criticized individuals associated with the Hamas terror organization.

“Yesterday, at Union Station in Washington, DC we saw despicable acts by unpatriotic protestors and dangerous hate-fueled rhetoric,” Harris said in a statement on X.

More than 5,000 protesters gathered near Capitol Hill, waving Palestinian flags and chanting for the US to stop arming Israel as Netanyahu spoke to Congress. Harris condemned any individuals associating with Hamas, which she described as a brutal terrorist organization.

“I condemn the burning of the American flag. That flag is a symbol of our highest ideals as a nation and represents the promise of America. It should never be desecrated in that way,” she said.

Harris expressed support for the right to peacefully protest but emphasized that antisemitism, hate, and violence have no place in the nation.

During his address, Netanyahu urged American leaders to provide bipartisan support amid Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas in Gaza. Some demonstrators attempted to barricade Netanyahu’s routes to the Capitol, with one group burning the American flag.

Netanyahu called out Iran for funding and promoting anti-Israel protests in America, referring to protesters as “Iran useful idiots.” He emphasized the strategic role of Israel in countering Iran and stated that the war could end if Hamas surrendered its arms and returned hostages.

Netanyahu compared the Hamas terror attack in October to the attacks on Pearl Harbor and 9/11, calling it “a day that will forever live in infamy.”
