Delhi’s New Mohalla Bus Service Begins Trial Run
Introduction of Mohalla Buses
Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot has launched the trial run of the Mohalla Bus service on the Vasant Vihar circular route. This initiative aims to improve public transport connectivity in Delhi.
Route Details
The trial route includes key locations such as Munirka Village, Munirka Metro Station, Ambience Mall, DLF Mall, Vasant Kunj Institutional Area, Spinal Injury Hospital, IIMC, Ber Sarai Village, and Fortis Hospital. Currently, two buses are operating on this route.
Future Plans
Based on commuter feedback, more routes will be added. The Delhi government plans to expand the Mohalla Bus service citywide. The buses are nine meters long, fully electric, and have 23 seats, with six reserved for women.

Previous Launches
In August, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj and MLA Somnath Bharti inaugurated a trial route from Kailash Colony Metro Station to PNB Gitanjali Colony. Another route connects Lok Kalyan Marg Metro Station to Vasant Vihar Metro Station, covering several South Campus colleges.
Future Expansion
The Kejriwal government plans to introduce 2,180 Mohalla buses by 2025, targeting areas with limited road width or overcrowding issues.
