Kailash Gahlot Joins BJP: A Major Shift in Delhi Politics

In a significant political development in New Delhi, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and minister Kailash Gahlot has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This move comes just before the Delhi Assembly elections, marking a setback for AAP.

Reasons for Leaving AAP

Gahlot resigned from AAP, expressing concerns about the party's direction and internal challenges. He stated, "This was not an easy step for me. I have been associated with AAP since the days of Anna Ji and have consistently worked for the people of Delhi." He emphasized that his decision was not made under pressure but was a result of seeing the party's values being compromised.

Vision for Delhi's Development

Gahlot believes that Delhi's development requires collaboration with the central government, which he feels is not possible with AAP's current approach. He said, "If a government continuously engages in conflict with the central government on every issue, then the development of Delhi cannot take place."

Welcome to BJP

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar welcomed Gahlot to the BJP, highlighting this as a turning point in Delhi's politics. Khattar expressed confidence in Gahlot's decision, noting the work of Prime Minister Modi and the BJP.

Criticism of AAP

In his resignation letter to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, Gahlot criticized the party for shifting its focus from public service to political agendas. He pointed out unfulfilled promises, such as cleaning the Yamuna River, and controversies like the 'Sheeshmahal' issue, questioning AAP's commitment to its foundational values.
