K T Rama Rao Demands Investigation into Rs 8868 Crore AMRUT Scheme Scam by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 24: K T Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has raised serious allegations against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Rao has accused Reddy of exploiting his position to benefit his family by awarding contracts under the AMRUT Scheme 2.0.
Rao claims that a massive scam of Rs 8868 crore took place in the Municipal Department, where Reddy allegedly awarded a contract worth Rs 1,132 crores to his brother-in-law, Srujan Reddy, who has no technical experience for the project. Rao has demanded an investigation by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to expose the corruption.
Speaking on the matter, Rao said, “I am giving the proof then why are you (the central government) getting on the back foot from taking action? If the Central government sincerely wants to expose the corruption of the Congress Government, I request them to get the investigations done by the CVC. They can immediately start the investigation and the AMRUT Scam can be exposed.”
The AMRUT Scheme 2.0, launched in 2021 under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, aims to develop basic infrastructure in cities and towns. Rao has urged the central government to take immediate action and start an inquiry into the alleged scam.
