K T Rama Rao Criticizes Musi River Project, Calls It a Scam

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India] September 30: K T Rama Rao, the working President of Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), has heavily criticized the Musi River Beautification Project. He called it a ‘scam’ and raised objections against the demolitions involved in the project.

KTR pointed out the proposed budget for the project, comparing it to the Central Government’s budget for the Ganga River rejuvenation. He accused CM Revanth Reddy of mismanaging funds. KTR said, “Instead of fulfilling your promises, you don’t have money for that. But you have 1,50,000 crores for the Musi project. The central government only spent 40,000 crores for the 2400 km Ganga river. But for Musi River, which is 54 km, 1.50 lakh crores is being spent. If this is not a scam, then what is this?”

KTR also criticized the demolitions for the project, demanding the demolition of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) Commissioner’s office and the GHMC building. He questioned the absence of leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi during the crisis and accused the government of not facing the media.

CM Revanth Reddy defended the project, stating that it aims to develop historic buildings along the Musi River into famous tourist spots. He announced that the State Tourism Department has signed an agreement for the restoration of several ancient stepwells in Hyderabad. The CM criticized the previous government for neglecting historical buildings and stated that the state government is committed to promoting tourism and welfare in Telangana.
