Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 26: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated a new 10m air pistol shooting range in Gwalior, named after double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker. During the inauguration, Scindia spoke to Manu Bhaker via video call and showed her the newly built range.

Manu Bhaker made history at the Paris Olympics by becoming the first Indian to win two medals at the same Olympics. She, along with her partner Sarabjot Singh, won bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, defeating South Korea’s Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin 16-10 in the bronze medal play-off match. Bhaker also secured third place in the women’s individual 10m Air Pistol event, becoming the first-ever woman shooter to win an Olympic medal for India.

In her final event, Bhaker narrowly missed out on a historic grand treble, finishing fourth in the women’s 25m pistol shooting event. She is the first athlete from the Indian contingent after independence to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics.
