Ernakulam (Kerala) [India], June 30: The Think Kerala Youth Conclave, held in Kochi on Sunday, emphasized the importance of youth involvement in societal development. Justice Devan Ramachandran inaugurated the event at the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI).

Justice Ramachandran highlighted the need for a collective youth voice to drive positive changes in society. He addressed the issue of young people emigrating from Kerala and pointed out the presence of around 75 lakh workers from other states in Kerala, indicating a shift in the Malayali work ethic.

He stressed the importance of ensuring women’s safety and reducing crime through public awareness, not just punishment. He also called for dismantling societal prejudices to achieve fairness and equal opportunity for all.

The conclave, themed “Dream Kerala is Possible,” aimed to create a platform for innovative solutions for sustainable development. It brought together 300 young people aged between 18 and 30, along with experts from various fields who engaged in discussions and interactions.

CMFRI Director A Gopalakrishnan presided over the function. The conclave identified the need to improve higher education to meet global standards and create more job opportunities. It highlighted the challenges of youth unemployment and underemployment, emphasizing entrepreneurship and agriculture as potential income sources for young people.

Prominent figures like Technopark Founder CEO G Vijayaraghavan, Murali Tummarukudi, Prashanth Nair IAS, Santhosh George Kulangara, Prof. Achyut Shankar, Adv. Parvathy Menon, Sreejith Panicker, Ramesh Pisharati, Chef Suresh Pillai, Suja Chandy, Krishnakumar KT, Dr. Ananthu, Adv. OM Shalina, and Abhilash Pillai participated in the debate.
