JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Talks About Fresh Elections and PTI’s Plans
Islamabad [Pakistan], July 21: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced on Saturday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is willing to dissolve the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to pave the way for fresh ‘transparent’ elections. He suggested that both parliamentary and local body elections be conducted simultaneously.
Rehman stated that a committee has been formed to hold talks with PTI to develop a strategy. The committee will be led by Kamran Murtaza and includes Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Fazl Ghaffar, Aslam Ghori, and Maulana Amjad.
He emphasized that no fabricated cases should be filed against any political leader, including PTI founder Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail on multiple charges. Rehman also stressed that the establishment should change its policies for the country’s stability, stating that martial law or emergency measures will no longer work.
Earlier, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor mentioned that JUI-F and PTI have had a significant rift for the past 10 to 12 years, and it will take time to address their reservations before making any progress.
