JUI-F and PPP Reach Agreement on Constitutional Amendments

In Islamabad, Pakistan, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have come to an agreement on constitutional amendments following a meeting in Karachi. This was reported by ARY News.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced the agreement during a joint press conference. Maulana Fazlur Rehman praised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for reaching a consensus on the draft of the amendments. He mentioned plans to meet with Nawaz Sharif, the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), to discuss further support.
Inclusion of PML-N
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari stated that PML-N will be invited to support the draft agreed upon by JUI-F and PPP. He emphasized that the agreement will lay the groundwork for future negotiations, aiming to address public issues rather than individual interests.
Upcoming Sessions
The federal government plans to pass the 26th constitutional amendment in the Senate on October 17, followed by a session in the National Assembly on October 18.
