On October 21, JP Nadda, the National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), organized a significant workshop called ‘Sangathan Parv’ in New Delhi. This event brought together BJP state presidents, general secretaries, state-in-charges, and membership drive leaders from across India.

The workshop focused on the upcoming organizational elections, which have been in preparation for over two months, and the ongoing membership drive initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 2, 2024. The meeting lasted more than seven hours and included key figures like National Returning Officer K Laxman and National General Secretary BL Santosh.

Prominent attendees included BJP Vice-President Rekha Verma and MPs Sambit Patra and Naresh, who served as co-returning officers. During a media interaction, BJP UP State President Bhupender Chaudhary shared insights about the ‘Sangathan Mahaparv 2024’ workshop, which discussed plans for electing leaders from the booth level to the national level.

Chaudhary also mentioned the UP by-election, stating that the BJP’s State Core Committee has finalized candidate names for the assembly by-elections, awaiting approval from the Central Election Committee. The party aims to contest these elections with full strength.

The leadership election coincides with a membership drive that has added over 9 crore new members to the party. JP Nadda, who has led the party since January 2020, had his term extended to oversee the election of his successor. According to the party’s constitution, the national president’s term is typically three years, elected by consensus.
