Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda has introduced the ‘Strengthening the Medical Device Industry’ scheme, with a budget of Rs 500 crore. This initiative aims to enhance the sector by focusing on manufacturing essential components, skill development, clinical studies support, and infrastructure creation.

Key Objectives

The scheme is designed to reduce import dependency and advance India’s vision of self-reliance, known as Viksit Bharat 2047. Nadda highlighted the government’s commitment to transforming the industry and positioning India as a global leader.
