JP Nadda Launches ‘Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2024’ in Delhi

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare JP Nadda launched the ‘Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2024’ at an event in Delhi. The campaign will last for two months, focusing on reducing childhood mortality through various activities.

Campaign Details

JP Nadda highlighted that this is the first program launched after coming to power. The campaign duration has been extended from a fortnight to two months. In 2014, the mortality rate was 45 per 1,000 live births, which has now been reduced to 32 per 1,000 live births.

The goal is to reduce childhood mortality to 23 per 1,000 live births by 2025. Diarrhoea remains a major cause of death among children under five, contributing to 5.8% of under-five deaths in India. Around 50,000 children die annually due to diarrhoea, especially during summer and monsoon months.
