JP Nadda Denies Mallikarjun Kharge’s Claims About NCERT Textbooks

New Delhi, August 7: Union Minister JP Nadda has dismissed Congress Leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s claims that the Preamble has been removed from NCERT textbooks. Nadda assured that there is no question of altering the Preamble and affirmed the Modi government’s commitment to safeguarding the Constitution.

Kharge’s Accusations

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Kharge accused the BJP government of removing the Preamble from NCERT textbooks, calling it the ‘soul and spirit of the Constitution.’ He also criticized the government for allegedly erasing statues of Dr. BR Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi and tampering with the Constitution.

Protests and Interventions

The accusation led to loud protests from the Treasury benches, prompting Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to intervene. Dhankhar stated that the last four minutes of the debate would be deleted from the record and urged everyone to take their seats.

Nadda’s Response

Responding to Kharge, Nadda said that Kharge’s claims were based on reports and not verified sources. He emphasized that the Modi government respects the Constitution and the Preamble, and there is no question of altering them. Nadda also referred to the imposition of an Emergency by the Congress as a dark day for the Constitution.
