JP Nadda Criticizes Congress Over OBC Reservation and Agniveer Scheme

Union Minister JP Nadda criticized the Congress party for their stance on OBC reservations and the Agniveer scheme. He accused them of shedding ‘crocodile tears’ and questioned their commitment to OBCs, citing past actions and the composition of their committees.

OBC Reservation

Speaking during the budget discussion, Nadda said that Congress has suddenly become an OBC sympathizer, despite Rajiv Gandhi labeling the Mandal Commission report as ‘one man obstinacy.’ He questioned why there were no debates on the Kaka Kalelkar and Mandal Commission reports at the time and criticized Congress for their current stance.

Nadda also questioned the number of OBCs in Congress’ working committee and other institutions, calling their support for backward classes ‘ghadiyali aanshu’ (crocodile tears). He highlighted that PM Modi’s cabinets in 2014, 2019, and 2024 had the most SC, ST, and OBC ministers.

Budget Criticism

Nadda addressed claims that the budget was a copy of Congress’ manifesto and defended it against accusations of being an industrialists’ budget. He questioned the opposition’s contradictory statements and asked what they actually wanted to convey.

Agniveer Scheme

Nadda also criticized the opposition for politicizing the Agniveer and Agneepath schemes. He stated that the decision to implement these schemes was made after extensive consultations to make India’s army world-class. He highlighted that PM Modi allocated Rs 1.15 lakh crore for the One Rank One Pension scheme, compared to the Rs 500 crores allocated by the previous Congress government.

Nadda urged everyone not to politicize the issue and assured that the government would look after the Agniveers.
