Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief JP Nadda visited a Gurudwara in Thane, Maharashtra, to celebrate Sri Guru Nanak Jayanti. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to pay respects and receive blessings at Gurudwara Shri Dashmesh Darbar. Nadda shared his prayers for the country’s progress and prosperity on this special occasion.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj offered prayers at Gurudwara Shri Rakab Ganj Sahib. She highlighted the importance of Guru Nanak’s teachings, emphasizing their role in guiding society towards equality.

Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as ‘Gurpurab’, celebrates the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh gurus. This sacred festival is marked by spiritual gatherings, hymn recitations from the Guru Granth Sahib, and fervent devotion. It is observed on the full moon date of the Kartik month, known as Kartik Purnima.

Guru Nanak Dev, born in 1469 in what is now Nankana Sahib, Pakistan, was a proponent of peace, equality, and tolerance. On Gurpurab, prayers are held in Gurdwaras, and the celebrations continue with langar, a communal meal, late into the night.
