The meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, aims to discuss the candidates for the upcoming state assembly election in Jharkhand, which has 81 seats.

The meeting will be chaired by JP Nadda and attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Other notable attendees include BJP state president Babulal Marandy, Sameer Oraon, Arjun Munda, Deepak Prakash, state incharge Laxmikant Bajpayee, and election incharge Shivraj Singh Chauhan, along with Hemanta Biswa Sarma.

Previous Discussions

Prior to this, a core group meeting was held in Jharkhand, chaired by Babulal Marandi. The meeting focused on proposing names for the 81 seats, which will now be discussed in Delhi. BJP’s Election Management Committee Convenor Sunil Singh highlighted the strategic planning discussed, including rally locations and booth strengthening.

Controversy Over ‘JMM Samman Yojana’

There is a debate over the Jharkhand government’s request to implement the ‘JMM Samman Yojana’, offering Rs 2,500 monthly to women beneficiaries. BJP leader Sunil Singh questioned the timing of this initiative, emphasizing BJP’s commitment to women’s empowerment.

Jharkhand is expected to hold elections for its 81-member legislative assembly by December 2024, as the current government’s term ends in January 2025. The Election Commission has yet to announce the schedule.
