Mumbai police arrested journalist Rishabh Chakravorty on Sunday for assaulting a cab driver near Asalpha village in Ghatkopar. The incident, which happened on Friday, was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.

Details of the Incident

According to Santosh Ghatekar, a senior police officer at Parksite Police Station, Chakravorty’s car hit the cab near Asalpha village. When the cab driver asked for compensation, Chakravorty drove away. The cab driver followed him to his residence on LBS Marg in Ghatkopar. There, the cab driver hit Chakravorty’s car from behind. Chakravorty and a woman in his car then got out and attacked the cab driver, causing serious head injuries.

Police Actions

After the arrest, Chakravorty was produced before the court and sent to police custody for 7 days. The police have added an attempt to murder charge due to the severity of the cab driver’s injuries. The driver, Qureshi, was initially taken to Rajawadi Hospital and later transferred to JJ Hospital due to the seriousness of his head injuries. The police have recorded statements from Chakravorty and his wife and issued notices to both the driver and the woman involved. Further investigation is ongoing.
