The Delhi Half Marathon, a prestigious World Athletics Gold Label Road Race, saw Olympian Joshua Cheptegei win the men’s race and Alemaddis Eyayu claim the women’s title. The event took place in New Delhi, India.

Men’s Race Highlights

Kenyan runner Alex Matata led much of the men’s race alongside Nicholas Kipkorir. However, Cheptegei overtook Matata near the finish line at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, winning in 59 minutes 46 seconds. Matata finished second, and Kipkorir came third.

Women’s Race Highlights

Alemaddis Eyayu from Ethiopia surprised pre-race favorite Cynthia Limo of Kenya. Eyayu took the lead in the second half, finishing in 68 minutes 17 seconds. Limo finished second, and Tiruye Mesfin came third.

Indian Elite Category

In the Indian Elite Men’s category, Sawan Barwal won gold with a personal best of 1:02:46. Lili Das won the Indian Elite Women’s category, finishing in 1:18:12.

Prize Details

The total prize purse was USD 260,000, with the top three finishers in both categories receiving USD 27,000, USD 20,000, and USD 13,000, respectively.
