Josh Inglis to Lead Australia in ODI and T20I Series Against Pakistan

Josh Inglis, the talented wicketkeeper-batter, is set to lead the Australian cricket team in the third and final One Day International (ODI) and the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan. These matches will take place from November 14 to 18 in Brisbane, Sydney, and Hobart.

Inglis was chosen over experienced players Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis to captain the team. He will also lead during the last match of the ODI series as Australia’s Test players focus on their upcoming series with India.

Inglis played a key role in Australia’s successful ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup campaign in India last year. With the retirement of veteran keeper Matthew Wade, Inglis, at 29, is now the first choice for wicketkeeping in both white-ball formats.

Selection chair George Bailey praised Inglis, saying, “Josh is an integral member of the ODI and T20I teams and a highly respected player on and off the field. He has led Australia A previously and will bring strong tactical nous and a positive approach to the role.” Inglis will be supported by players like Matt Short, Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis.

This promotion allows Test captain Pat Cummins and other key players like Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne, and Steve Smith to rest for the final ODI match against Pakistan. New players like Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett, Josh Phillipe, and Lance Morris have been added to the squad.

Australia won the first match of the ODI series against Pakistan by two wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The series will continue in Adelaide and Perth for the final two matches.
