Josh Hull Misses England’s Pakistan Tour Due to Injury
Josh Hull, a 20-year-old left-arm seamer, has been ruled out of England’s upcoming Test tour of Pakistan due to a quad injury. England Cricket announced Hull’s setback on X, stating that he will not be able to feature in the subcontinent next month.
Hull picked up the injury during his debut in England’s third Test against Sri Lanka at the Kia Oval. Despite expectations of regaining fitness before the Pakistan tour, Hull was pulled out of the ongoing white-ball home series against Australia. Unfortunately, he has not recovered in time, leading to his exclusion from the three-match Test series.
England has not named a replacement for Hull and will head to Pakistan with a 16-player squad on October 1. Hull’s recent rise in the senior setup is due to his consistent performances in England’s domestic cricket over the past year. He was included in England’s playing XI after Mark Wood’s injury in the opening Test at Old Trafford.
In his Test debut, Hull showed promise by taking three wickets in the first innings, dismissing Pathum Nissanka, skipper Dhananjaya de Silva, and Vishwa Fernando. However, he went wicketless in the second innings as Sri Lanka chased down 219 to hand England their only Test defeat of the summer.
England will play the first match against Pakistan on October 7 in Multan, followed by the second Test at the same venue on October 15. The final Test will be held in Rawalpindi from October 24 to 28.
