Jos Buttler Leads England to T20 World Cup Semi-Finals with Win Over USA

England captain Jos Buttler was full of praise for his team after they defeated the USA to reach the ICC T20 World Cup semi-finals. The match took place at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, where England became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Spinners Shine

Buttler highlighted the efforts of spinners Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone, who bowled exceptionally well. He mentioned that their performance in tandem created pressure on the USA team during the powerplay.

“Adil was fantastic and Livi bowled brilliantly in tandem. It’s difficult when you are not bowling in one game and then suddenly you bowl 4 overs, credit to him for being ready,” Buttler said.

Chasing the Target

England needed to chase down the target in 18.4 overs or less to advance. Buttler and Phil Salt made quick work of the target, with Buttler scoring an unbeaten 83 off just 38 balls. Despite his impressive performance, Buttler downplayed his role, emphasizing the team’s collective effort.

“I feel I’m hitting the ball well, and it’s on me to look after my own game. As much as I’m the captain, I’m one of the 11 and I have got to do my job,” Buttler added.

Chris Jordan’s Hat-Trick

The victory was also marked by Chris Jordan’s outstanding bowling, including his first hat-trick in the T20I format. Buttler praised Jordan’s execution and mentioned that bringing him into the team added depth to their batting.

“We have great options, today we wanted to bring in Jordan to bring depth to our batting and a World Cup hat-trick is a great effort,” Buttler said.
