Joe Root Tops ICC Rankings, Gus Atkinson Shines, and Litton Das Leads Bangladesh to Victory
Star England batter Joe Root has become the top batter as the International Cricket Council (ICC) updated player rankings. Root’s consecutive centuries have extended his lead in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Rankings, now leading by 63 points over New Zealand’s Kane Williamson.
Gus Atkinson’s stellar performance against Sri Lanka, where he scored a century and took a five-wicket haul, led to significant jumps in the rankings. He moved up 48 spots into the top 20 for All-Rounders and into the top 30 for bowlers.
Despite Sri Lanka’s series defeat against England, Kamindu Mendis and Asitha Fernando made notable gains. Mendis moved up 11 spots to 25th in the batting rankings, while Fernando’s eight-wicket performance propelled him into the top ten for bowlers.
In Pakistan, Bangladesh’s Litton Das and Mehedy Hasan Miraz excelled in their series. Das’s 138 runs helped him move up to 15th in the batting rankings, while Miraz’s performance pushed him to 7th in the all-rounders list.
West Indies’ Nicolas Pooran and Shai Hope, along with American Harmeet Singh, saw improvements in the T20I rankings. Pooran moved up to eighth in the batting rankings, while Hope moved up 32 spots to 40th. Singh made significant jumps in both the bowling and all-rounder rankings.
