Root’s Record-Breaking Performance

After a fine 42 in the first innings, Root showcased his class and composure in a tense run chase of 205 runs, scoring an unbeaten 62 in 128 balls, with two fours. This performance brought his total to 64 fifties for England, making him the third-highest overall in Test cricket, just behind Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Sachin Tendulkar.
