JNU Teachers Begin Hunger Strike Against Unfair Promotions and Appointments
New Delhi, India – The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) teachers’ association has started a 24-hour hunger strike and protest. They are upset about the unfair and biased way the university administration is handling promotions and appointments of faculty members.
Despite bad weather and heavy rain, many teachers joined the protest to support their colleagues, including the JNUTA President, who are on a hunger strike. Former DUTA and FEDCUTA President Nandita Narayan and Delhi University Academic Council member Maya John also joined to show their support.
The Ambedkar University teachers’ association (AUDFA) also expressed their solidarity, and the JNUTA President promised to support AUDFA’s struggles as well.
