J&K Open 2024: A Celebration of Golf and Tourism in Jammu
The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) and J&K Tourism are hosting the fourth edition of the J&K Open at the Jammu Tawi Golf Course from Wednesday to Saturday. The event offers a prize purse of Rs 50 lakh, with a Pro-Am event on October 27. Supported by J&K Tourism, the tournament aims to promote golf tourism in the region.

Jammu, known for its scenic beauty and tourist attractions like the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple and Amar Mahal Palace, is a perfect backdrop for the tournament. The region boasts spectacular golf courses, including the Royal Springs Golf Course in Srinagar and the Gulmarg Golf Club.
Participants and Highlights
Top Indian golfers like Shaurya Binu and Olympian Udayan Mane will compete, alongside international players from countries like the Czech Republic, USA, and Sri Lanka. Yasha Mudgal, IAS, Commissioner Secretary, J&K Tourism, expressed a warm welcome to all participants and sponsors.

Vivekanand Rai, IRS, Director of Tourism, highlighted the event’s role in showcasing Jammu’s beauty and culture. Sunaina Sharma Mehta, Joint Director, Tourism, announced a Dogra food festival and a FAM tour for players. Manav Gupta, Secretary of Jammu Tawi Golf Course, emphasized the course’s excellence in promoting golf in India.
Jammu Tawi Golf Course
Designed by Col. K D Bagga, the 18-hole course was commissioned in 2011. Located along National Highway 1A, it features fairways of 6600 meters and several water bodies. The course aims to boost golf tourism and nurture young talent.
