Jharkhand Elections: Hemant Soren and Himanta Biswa Sarma Exchange Words

In Ranchi, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren filed his nomination for the upcoming assembly elections. During a media interaction, he took a jab at Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand BJP co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma, calling him a ‘Pravaasi’ CM, implying that Sarma will not be present in the state after the elections. Soren stated, “Today, I have filed my nomination for the assembly election… ‘Pravaasi’ CM (Himanta Biswa Sarma) is here and not only him but all the so-called big leaders of their party are here. They are here for a few days; after that they won’t be found here. They are doing their work, I am doing mine…”

Hemant Soren will contest from the Barhait Assembly constituency. Meanwhile, his wife, Kalpana Soren, a JMM leader, filed her nomination from the Gandey Assembly constituency. She currently represents Gandey, having won a bypoll in May by defeating BJP’s Dilip Kumar Verma by 27,149 votes. The seat was vacated by JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmad.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has announced its first list of 35 candidates for the elections, which will occur in two phases on November 13 and 20. On the other hand, Himanta Biswa Sarma, campaigning in Jamshedpur, criticized the current government, expressing confidence in winning all four Jamshedpur seats and forming the government under PM Modi’s leadership. He stated, “There is an environment of enthusiasm and excitement among the people. We will win all four seats of Jamshedpur with big margins. People will teach this govt (state) a lesson… NDA will form the govt under the leadership of PM Modi. It’s not my work to estimate the number of seats that we will win, I think we will win 81 seats.”

The assembly elections in Jharkhand are scheduled for November 13 and 20, with vote counting on November 23.
