Jharkhand Congress Leaders Plan for 2024 Elections in Delhi Meeting
Jharkhand Congress chief Rajesh Thakur announced that a meeting in Delhi will focus on the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections. Twenty senior leaders will discuss strategies and alliance plans.
Minister Rameshwar Oraon emphasized the strength of their alliance, stating, “The discussion will be regarding the upcoming (Jharkhand) election. The situation here is very good, our alliance partners are one. All three parties will fight together, there will be an alliance. This time, the results will be better than last time.”
The elections are expected in 2024, with the current assembly term ending in January 2025. Hemant Soren, recently reappointed as Chief Minister, had previously stepped down due to legal issues.
In 2019, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) fought the assembly elections in alliance with the Congress and Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD), securing a comfortable majority with forty-seven seats in the 81-member house.
