Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s Helicopter Delayed During PM Modi’s Visit

In Ranchi, Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has reached out to President Droupadi Murmu after Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s helicopter was delayed for over 90 minutes. This occurred during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state. The JMM is seeking the President’s intervention to ensure fair campaigning conditions for all parties in the upcoming assembly elections.

Security Concerns and Flight Restrictions

The JMM’s letter highlighted that Hemant Soren was unable to fly over a 150-kilometer distance due to security measures for the Prime Minister. The Election Commission had previously stated that a no-fly zone with a 50-kilometer radius would be enforced around the Prime Minister, with a 15-minute flight restriction.

Impact on Campaigning

Hemant Soren had planned election rallies in Gudri and Simdega districts, with permissions granted by the Election Commission. However, his flight was delayed, affecting his campaign schedule. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi had a rally at Chaibasa College grounds.

JMM’s Appeal for Fairness

JMM leader Manoj Pandey accused the BJP of obstructing Soren’s campaign, calling for a level playing field in elections. He expressed distrust in the Election Commission and urged the President to safeguard democratic rights.
