Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Criticizes BJP for 20 Years of Misrule

In Ranchi, Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched a strong criticism against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of “looting” the state for over two decades. Soren, who took office in December 2019, expressed his commitment to revitalizing Jharkhand, which he claims was neglected by the BJP. He marked 100 days since his return from jail and resumption of his role as CM, coinciding with the announcement of assembly elections in Jharkhand.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) further accused the BJP of depriving the people of essential services like education and employment. Soren highlighted the struggles faced by various communities in the state, including tribals, Dalits, and farmers, and emphasized the JMM’s efforts to uplift them through initiatives like the Maiya Samman Yojana and Phool Jhano Ashirwad Abhiyan.

Kalpana Murmu Soren, the CM’s wife and Jharkhand MLA, also spoke about the upcoming elections, framing them as a battle to preserve Jharkhand’s identity. She contrasted the two sides: one driven by money and power, and the other fighting for the rights and dignity of Jharkhand’s people.

The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the Jharkhand and Maharashtra Assembly elections, with Jharkhand’s elections set for November 13 and 20, and Maharashtra’s on November 20. Votes will be counted on November 23, with 2.60 crore voters eligible in Jharkhand, including 11.84 lakh first-time voters.
