Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Criticizes Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Over Flood Relief and Hate Politics

On Friday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of engaging in hate politics in Jharkhand. Soren stated, “Their (BJP) one CM is whose own state is drowning due to flood, and instead of serving his people, he is here in Jharkhand to divide the society. I sent him the flood relief but he only does hatred politics here.”

Soren questioned Sarma’s focus on Jharkhand, asking, “He (Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma) should be asked how many flood-affected areas has he visited?… He is more concerned about the situation in Jharkhand rather than Assam…”

Sarma, who is also BJP’s co-in-charge for Jharkhand elections, was on a two-day visit to Jharkhand. During his visit, Sarma accused Bangladeshi infiltrators of taking tribal lands in Pakur and criticized the local administration for not enforcing court orders to return the land to tribal families. Sarma said, “Today, I visited Gaibathan village of Pakur. There is SPT law, so the land of the Adivasis cannot be transferred. Two Bangladeshi infiltrators grabbed their land, the Court gave an order that both of them should be removed and the Adivasi family should be given their land back, but the administration did not do anything.”

Sarma also mentioned that his party would provide Rs 1 lakh each to the families of the Adivasi victims. He added, “If the Chief Minister of a state is not allowed to visit a certain place because of the fear of infiltrators, you can understand the situation of Jharkhand. I would not want to visit Gopinathpur forcefully but I will come back again after some time and then I will visit Gopinathpur…”
