JD(S) Leader Suraj Revanna Files Complaint Against Worker for Blackmail
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 23: An FIR has been registered against a JD(S) worker and his brother-in-law based on a complaint by Suraj Revanna, the son of HD Revanna and a JD(S) MLC. The complaint alleges that they threatened and blackmailed him with false sexual assault accusations.
According to the police, the FIR includes charges under sections 384 and 506. Suraj Revanna is the elder brother of former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is currently in police custody over separate sexual assault allegations that emerged during the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
On June 10, Prajwal Revanna was sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court. He was arrested at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru after returning to India. The court had previously remanded him to SIT custody until June 6, which was later extended to June 10.
On June 1, the SIT team questioned Bhavani Revanna, the mother of Prajwal Revanna, at her Holenarasipura residence. Bhavani is accused in a kidnapping case registered under IPC sections 64(A), 365, 109, and 120(B). Her husband, HD Revanna, was arrested earlier in connection with the same case and granted conditional bail.
The case, registered on April 28, involves allegations of sexual assault by HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna against their house help. Prajwal had returned to India from Germany nearly a month after leaving the country following the surfacing of obscene videos allegedly involving him on social media.
Prajwal Revanna is under investigation by the SIT for allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation based on a complaint by a former domestic help.
