JD Vance Chosen as Donald Trump’s Running Mate for 2024 Election
Washington, DC [US], July 16: JD Vance, a Republican US Senator from Ohio, expressed his gratitude for being selected as the running mate of US presidential candidate Donald Trump. Vance called it an ‘honor’ to run alongside Trump, stating that Trump has delivered peace and prosperity once and will do it again.
In a post on X, Vance said, ‘Just overwhelmed with gratitude. What an honor it is to run alongside President Donald J. Trump. He delivered peace and prosperity once, and with your help, he’ll do it again. Onward to victory!’
Former US President Donald Trump confirmed Vance’s candidature through a post on Truth Social, stating, ‘After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator JD Vance of the Great State of Ohio.’
Vance, a venture entrepreneur and author of the best-selling memoir ‘Hillbilly Elegy,’ was elected to the US Senate in 2022. He has embraced Trump’s populist ideology and has been a supporter of Trump in the Senate, frequently casting votes in the former president’s favor.
Trump praised Vance’s background, highlighting his service in the Marine Corps, his academic achievements, and his successful business career. Trump also congratulated Vance’s wife, Usha, and their three children.
Other contenders for the vice-presidential spot, such as Marco Rubio of Florida and Governor Doug Burgum of North Dakota, are now out of the race. Vance’s close relationship with Trump and his alignment with Trump’s policies played a significant role in his selection.
Vance was born James David Bowman in Middletown, Ohio, and was raised by his grandparents. He returned to Ohio in 2017 and continued to work in venture capital. His wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, is an attorney with a successful career in the legal field.
