Jayant Chaudhary and PM Modi Discuss Skill Development for Youth in India

Minister of State for Skill Development, Jayant Chaudhary, announced that the National Education Policy 2020 will include skill development for children starting from the sixth grade. He stated, “In the National Education Policy 2020, there is a provision that from the sixth grade onwards, we will sensitize children in the school system itself for their skill development.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s youthful population as a significant asset. He said, “India is a youthful country. It is a huge attraction for the entire world because of its workforce. We should aim to make our youth a skilled and employable workforce. Emphasis on skill, research, innovation, and job-based knowledge is necessary for making Viksit Bharat @ 2047.”

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya introduced a scheme in the budget for skill development, where top companies will provide internships to one crore youth over the next five years, with an internship allowance of Rs 5,000 per month. He mentioned, “The package will facilitate employment, skilling, and other opportunities for 4.1 crore youth over a 5-year period.”
