Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), wrote a heartfelt message to Rahul Dravid, thanking him for his successful tenure as Team India’s head coach. Dravid’s time as head coach ended after India won the T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating South Africa by seven runs.

India’s T20 World Cup Victory

In the final match, Virat Kohli and Axar Patel’s strong partnership helped India reach a total of 176/7. Despite a tense defense, India managed to secure a seven-run victory, winning their second T20 World Cup title after 17 years.

Jay Shah’s Message

Jay Shah praised Dravid’s leadership, stating that under his guidance, India became a dominant force in all formats of cricket. Shah highlighted Dravid’s strategic skills, efforts to nurture talent, and leadership, which created a culture of excellence within the team.

After the victory, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20 cricket.

New Head Coach Announcement

Jay Shah confirmed that a new head coach will join Team India for the upcoming Sri Lanka series. The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has shortlisted two candidates, and the final decision will be announced after reaching Mumbai. Currently, VVS Laxman is serving as the interim head coach in Zimbabwe.
