Jason Gillespie Reveals Limited Role Ahead of Pakistan vs England Test in Rawalpindi

In Rawalpindi, Pakistan’s Test head coach, Jason Gillespie, shared surprising news before the third Test match against England. He revealed that he has no part in decision-making for the team. The Test series is currently tied at 1-1, with the final match set to take place in Rawalpindi. Pakistan recently secured a victory over England by 152 runs in the second Test and aims to win their first home series since February 2021, when they defeated South Africa.

During a pre-match press conference, Gillespie explained that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made changes after the first Test against England, appointing a new selection panel to make decisions. Gillespie stated, “The PCB came out and made some changes after that Test match. It was decided that a new selection panel would come in and they would be making decisions. I was not involved in the decision-making, I was just there. I’m now just the coach on match-day strategy. I just keep out of things now and just focus on the players and getting them ready for cricket.”

On Wednesday, the PCB announced an unchanged playing eleven for the upcoming third Test against England at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This announcement followed England’s declaration of their starting eleven, which includes a triple-spin attack. Under Shan Masood’s leadership, this marks the first time Pakistan will field an unchanged team.
