Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Suzuki Visits Mahabodhi Temple in Bihar

Hiroshi Suzuki, the Ambassador of Japan to India and Bhutan, visited the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar on Saturday. He was accompanied by a 5-member delegation from Patna.

Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi, Secretary of the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC), along with other BTMC members, welcomed Suzuki. During his visit, Suzuki showed great interest in the historical and cultural significance of the Buddhist monuments within the temple premises.

Suzuki offered lights, incense, flowers, and fruits at the main Shrine of the Mahabodhi Temple. Monks chanted Sutras, followed by Japanese chanting, invoking blessings on Suzuki and his delegation. He also prayed and meditated under the sacred Bodhi Tree and rang the Peace Bell thrice in the Meditation Park before visiting the Mucalinda Pond.

Mahashweta Maharathi explained the various sacred sites within the temple premises. The visit concluded with the presentation of mementoes to Suzuki, including a replica of the Mahabodhi Temple, a Bodhi Leaf, and various BTMC publications.
