Jammu and Kashmir Students Thank Minister Jaishankar for Safe Return from Bangladesh
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) expressed their gratitude to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for his quick and effective intervention in safely evacuating over 3,500 Kashmiri students from Bangladesh during recent violence and unrest.
National Convener Nasir Khuehami stated that almost all 3,500 students have safely returned to India with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). He thanked S Jaishankar and the MEA team for their personal efforts in evacuating the students who were stranded due to the crisis over reservation and job quotas in Bangladesh.
The unrest caused chaos, affecting the students’ safety and academic activities. Khuehami mentioned that the Ministry paid special attention to the Kashmiri students, coordinating their evacuation back to India. He emphasized that the families of these students were anxious and scared, and the successful evacuation brought immense relief.
Khuehami also thanked the Government of India and the Indian Embassy in Bangladesh for ensuring the safe evacuation. The MEA and the Indian High Commissioner arranged secure travel for the students to border crossing points or the airport. Students who traveled by road returned through the Akhaura ICP, while others entered India through the Srimantapur ICP and Haridaspur ICP.
Special arrangements were made for students who lost their passports or faced document issues. The coordinated efforts ensured every student reached their destination safely, bringing significant relief to their families. The MEA’s timely assistance reassured many other students and their families.
Khuehami concluded by expressing hope for continued cooperation to support students in future emergencies. The Association remains committed to supporting students in times of crisis and ensuring their secure return in any emergency situation.
