On July 9, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, expressed his condolences to the families of soldiers who lost their lives in the Kathua terror attack. He praised the bravery of the army personnel and assured that the perpetrators would be punished soon.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also shared his deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the five soldiers who died in the attack. He emphasized that counter-terrorist operations are ongoing and that the nation stands firm with the affected families.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the site of the attack. In response, security forces including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir police have been deployed along the National Highway (NH44) in Udhampur to ensure the safety of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims.

Five soldiers were killed in the ambush, and five others who were injured have been referred to the Military Hospital in Pathankot for further treatment. Sheela Devi, a Medical Officer at the Community Health Centre in Billawar, confirmed that the injured soldiers received primary treatment before being transferred.
