The Jammu and Kashmir administration has terminated six government officials, including five police personnel and a teacher, for their involvement in narco-terror activities. The officials were identified as Head Constable Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, Constables Khalid Hussian Shah, Rahmat Shah, Irshad Ahmad Chalkoo, Saif Din, and teacher Nazam Din.

Investigation and Evidence

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha invoked the Constitution to sack the officials after an investigation revealed their connection to a narco-terror network run by Pakistan’s ISI. The Jammu and Kashmir police collected incriminating evidence showing that the police constables worked as collaborators.

Statements from Officials

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated, “Narco-terror is one of the biggest threats to the country’s security and war on Narco-terror network is a critical component of the war on terrorism to eliminate terror ecosystem and to ensure peace and prosperity in J&K.”

DGP RR Swain added, “Every single rupee earned out of narcotics will be traced to every single account and every single property. Owners of narco-profits, be it private citizens or moles in government or police or any other organization, shall be held accountable and prevented from ingesting it.”

Details of the Accused

The investigation revealed that Head Constable Farooq Ahmad Sheikh and his associates received a huge consignment of brown sugar from drug smugglers across the LoC in Pakistan-Occupied J&K. Constable Khalid Hussian Shah used his police position to facilitate the smooth transportation and sale of drugs. Constable Irshad Ahmad Chalkoo was found in possession of illegal arms and ammunition and was in contact with terrorists based in PoJK.

Teacher Nazam Din was involved in a narco-terror network and received Rs 10 lakh from illegal proceeds. He was arrested with 5 Kgs of Heroin. Saif Din was part of a network that generated Rs 2.04 crore through narco-trade to fund terrorism.

Conclusion

The Jammu and Kashmir administration is intensifying efforts to rid the government system of elements involved in narcotics funding terror. With these terminations, a total of eight employees have been dismissed within a month for their involvement in narco-terror activities.
