Jammu and Kashmir DGP RR Swain Discusses Drug Abuse and Terrorism Link

On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir DGP RR Swain highlighted the alarming rise of drug abuse and its connection to terrorism. He stated that hard drugs have become a new issue, with the money generated from them being used to fund terrorist activities. Swain emphasized that all drugs are sourced from outside the region, making Jammu and Kashmir vulnerable to drug smuggling from neighboring countries and states.

Swain noted that terrorist groups are increasingly involved in drug trafficking, using the proceeds to finance their activities. The youth are particularly at risk of drug addiction, which can lead to radicalization and recruitment by terrorist groups. Police and security forces are conducting targeted operations to dismantle drug trafficking networks, while awareness campaigns aim to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse.

Efforts are also being made to provide support and rehabilitation services for those affected by drug addiction. Inter-agency cooperation and intelligence sharing are crucial in disrupting the narcotics-terror finance chain. The Jammu and Kashmir police and administration are working tirelessly to break this nexus, ensuring a safer future for the state’s citizens.
