Jammu and Kashmir Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Visits Nowshera

On October 19, Jammu and Kashmir’s Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, visited his Nowshera assembly constituency in Rajouri district. This marked his first visit since assuming office. Choudhary, who recently won the assembly polls, expressed gratitude to his constituents and promised development, including water and electricity facilities.

Push for Restoration of Statehood

The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, passed a resolution urging the Union Government to restore the region’s statehood. Abdullah is set to discuss this with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People’s Democratic Party leader Waheed Parra criticized the resolution, viewing it as a setback for not addressing Article 370.

Upcoming Legislative Assembly Session

The Cabinet has scheduled a Legislative Assembly session in Srinagar on November 4. Mubarak Gul, a senior National Conference leader, has been appointed as the pro-tem speaker to administer the oath to elected members. The NC-Congress alliance won the recent elections, marking the first since the abrogation of Article 370.
