On his first visit to the national capital after assuming office, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Chief Minister Abdullah stressed the importance of maintaining high alert levels among security forces to prevent future attacks. The attack occurred on October 20 at a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway, raising serious concerns due to its targeted nature.
Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on October 16. He recently resigned from the Budgam assembly constituency, retaining the Ganderbal seat, a stronghold of the National Conference. Abdullah previously served as Chief Minister from 2009 to 2015.
